Difference between ordinary screed and insulated screed in the Staenis slat system and the preparation of insulated screed for tiling

Ordinary screed and insulated screed can both be used in the Staenis slat system, depending on your insulation needs. Insulated screed offers better thermal insulation than regular screed and can be a good choice if you want to save energy. The tileable insulation screed is a variant that can be tiled faster (after 3-4 days drying time) compared to regular screed (28 days drying time).

To prepare the tileable insulation screed for tiling, you must apply a primer for absorbent substrates and then use leveling compound or tile adhesive to level out the floor. As a result, all the pits between the 6mm thick EPS beads are filled in and you end up nicely flat with the top of the Staenis grid.

To calculate the required quantities of materials, you can use the Staenis calculator on their website.
