The customer has a floor that consists partly of hollow bricks with a steel beam and concrete in between, and partly that consists of yellow sand. The customer has a height of 8.5 cm for the finished floor. At the highest point (steel beam) the customer has 1 cm to make a screed. The customer wants a 6 cm PIR insulation and a floating floor of 14 mm or tiles (8.5 mm without counting the adhesive). The customer asks which products and methods are recommended and in which order the various elements should be placed.

For your situation, I would recommend the following products and methods:

  1. For the part of the floor that consists of hollow bricks with a steel beam and concrete in between, I would recommend using the Staenis leveling grid. This will help level the floor and provide a solid foundation for the next steps.
  2. For the part of the floor that consists of yellow sand, I would recommend applying a floor texture like this: https://www.staenis.com/Floors/Screed11. This will help stabilize the sand and provide a solid foundation for the next steps.
  3. After the floor has been leveled and stabilized, you can apply the 6 cm PIR insulation. This will help keep the heat in your home and save energy.
  4. After the insulation, you can apply the 14 mm floating floor or 8.5 mm tiles (without counting the adhesive). Make sure you use the correct adhesive for the type of floor you choose.
  5. Finally, don't forget to place expansion joints between the different zones of your floor. This will help accommodate any movement in the floor and prevent cracks from forming.
