Load-bearing fillers such as aerated concrete granules are ideal for creating a dry floor. In this situation, the Staenis grid serves as a wooden grid, placed on a pressure-resistant, non-springy and dry OSB surface. The floor structure can be dismantled and can be reused without waste.

Floor construction manual

1. Place the Staenis grid and adjust it to the correct height with a screwdriver. If necessary, use Staenis extension legs or sawn wooden blocks under the Staenis legs to adjust higher. 2. Stick all feet to the surface with PU foam, so that the height adjustment remains correct after adjustment. 3. Pour the load-bearing leveling granules or aerated concrete into the grid and level it with a screed iron on the top of the Staenis grid. Press these granules for better stability. 4. Place on this at least an OSB of 22 mm thickness. Screw the wooden plate into the battens of the Staenis grid. If necessary, apply double plating for extra strength. 5. With a single plating on the load-bearing fillers, the 22mm OSB will still spring slightly. With a double plating (12mm + 18mm) the deflection is completely gone. (1 ton/m² compressive strength) 6. Tip: Depending on the type of floor finish, you choose the thickness of the OSB. A thin floor finish needs a thicker OSB, a thick floor finish can be combined with the minimum OSB thickness for this floor construction. 7. Be vigilant: if the wooden grating springs when you step on it, the surface can gradually bend under the weight of the installed Staenis grating and the aerated concrete granules. It is recommended to first stabilize the substrate and possibly opt for a lighter alternative, such as a non-tilable insulating screed. 8. Tip: To prevent loose grains from rolling away or flowing through holes and cracks, it is advisable to carefully close all openings in the wooden surface in advance with PU foam or mortar.
