Does the Staenis grid replace a decoupling mat?

The Staenis grid divides the screed into surfaces of 0.5 x 0.5 m. This distributes the dish-shaped effect and minimizes it per compartment. As a result, the screed continues to rest on the substrate and the grid helps limit stresses in the tiles or floor finish. Shrinkage and thermal movement remain possible. For the choice of a decoupling mat, the installation requirements of the screed, heating system and floor finish remain applicable.
