When should I reinforce the legs of the StaenisGrid?

The reinforcement of the StaenisGrid depends on the filler material to be used.

When using load-bearing dry fillers, such as leveling compound or aerated concrete granules, you do not need to reinforce the legs of the Staenis grid or add additional legs.

When using non-load-bearing fillers such as glass wool or cork granule insulation, you must:

  • Using the fiber-reinforced Staenis grid. With these green, fiber-reinforced slats and legs, you don't need to install eight additional yellow leveling legs per m² (nor do you need to reinforce the tops of the legs with cement, lime mortar, etc.) when applying a non-load-bearing filler to the grid.
  • Glue all legs to the substrate with PU foam; this way, the height adjustment remains correct after leveling.
  • You still need to double-layer the floor with non-load-bearing fillers. With load-bearing fillers, you need to install at least 22 mm thick OSB. These fiber-reinforced slats will make your floor feel much sturdier when using a single 22 mm thick OSB. Keep in mind, however, that double-layering will yield better results.
